The Home Garden Seed Association compiled a list of the top ten easiest plants to grow, and beans, peas, and pumpkins made the cut. So did cucumbers, zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers, lettuce, radishes, and squash. Keep reading for information on all of these easy-to-grow seeds!

Lettuce is one of the best vegetables to grow in spring. The leafy greens thrive in cool weather and can be planted as early as two weeks before the last frost date. You can sow lettuce seeds directly in the ground or start them indoors and then transplant them outside later.
Brassicas, which include broccoli, cabbage, and kale, are another group of vegetables that do well in spring. The seeds of these plants can be sown directly in the ground or started indoors. Spring radishes are another great option for direct seeding. Just remember to thin out the seedlings once they’ve sprouted so that they have enough room to grow.

Legumes, such as beans and peas, are also easy to grow from seed. These plants do best when the seeds are sown directly in the ground. Basil is another easy-to-grow herb that can be direct seeded or started indoors. The seeds of this plant should be sown about ¼ inch deep in the soil.
Summer squash, such as zucchini and yellow squash, is another vegetable that’s easy to grow from seed. The seeds of these plants can be sown directly in the ground or started indoors and then transplanted later. Cucumbers are another good option for direct seeding. Just remember to provide them with some type of support, such as a trellis or fence, so that they can climb.
